Orlando Schools Give Rights to the 'Transgendered'

Absent federal laws making sexually confused people a protected class of citizens, sexual revolutionaries are battling city-by-city to advance the most extreme aspects of the Gay Agenda. This week, the Orange County (Florida) Schools inflamed parents by passing a measure to ensure the rights of cross-dressing teachers and students to use the lockers rooms of their choice.

Tensions ran high in Orange County when hundreds of parents and students turned out over the controversial plan.  On one side of the argument students and teachers who want to be protected against discrimination. On the other side, parents who fear for their own children and worry that's not the type of conversation they want to have with their kids. Those parents are still in there arguing their sides.

"If a child chooses to identify with another gender, what does that mean to my student? And as a mom of my daughters, no one else is responsible for teaching them social policy, that's my job," said Vicki Mullens.

Other parents said the policy needs clarification. Some worried about who can use bathrooms, but district leaders assured the crowd that transgendered students and staff currently in the schools have not had any problems with bathroom use.

From "Orange County School Board approves LGBT protections" by Lauren Roth, Orlando Sentinel 12/12/12

After listening to nearly six hours of testimony on both sides of the issue, the Orange County School Board added protections for gay, lesbian and transgender students and staff to the district's nondiscrimination policy early Wednesday. More than 200 people had packed into the Orange County school-district headquarters for a heated debate on the proposal.

The board approved the changes on a 6-2 vote after rejecting a proposal that would have approved the protections for sexual orientation only, and not gender identity and expression.

. . . John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council, an anti-abortion, anti-gay-marriage group, said such a policy gives gay and transgender individuals special status and creates "protected classes" in an attempt to legalize gay marriage.

Stemberger's group organized much of the opposition during the past few days after learning about it through a tea-party blog. He and other opponents said the policy would quash their free-speech rights, hurt religious freedom and pose tricky questions about bathroom usage.
